She's Auspicious

Eli and Edythe Broad Stage, April 4th 2026
By : Mythili Prakash

She's Auspicious began as a study on my own identity as a woman, a mother, and a Bharatanatyam dancer. By inhabiting the character of this Goddess, I embody and linger in psychological states that challenge the ideals of “restraint” that characterize femininity in both classical dance and in society. Sharing creative space with other women, each of whom have their own relationship with questions of femininity, agency, and the relationship of these to their art, has turned my personal journey into a collective one. This work is not a singular narrative, but rather a collection of impressions, images, and emotions, open to experiencing in whatever way you do.

All net proceeds from She’s Auspicious will be donated to SABA North America Foundation, providing crucial support to South Asian survivors of domestic violence. As the divine feminine takes center stage, we also stand beside women and families who are reclaiming their power beyond the stage.

The South Asian Bar Association of North America Foundation (SABA NA Foundation) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with a mission of supporting access to justice for the South Asian community across North America. It is the charitable arm of the national bar association of South Asian lawyers in the United States and Canada. SABA NA Foundation funds work benefitting South Asian communities related to domestic violence intervention; immigration rights; prevention of, and support for victims of hate crimes, discrimination and racial profiling; voter rights; and other community access to justice issues. All donations received from "She's Auspicious" will be used to further work benefiting victims of domestic and gender based violence in the South Asian community.
